According to the Global Relaxation Report put out by Wakefield Research this year, 51% of the global population is getting less sleep than they need. That means most of us are not sleeping enough. In fact 80% of us use the weekends to catch up on sleep we don’t get during the week. Is that really how you want to spend your precious weekend hours?
The study found that very few Americans dedicate time to relax each day. More than 78% of us in the United States do not set aside time to unwind every day, which is consistent with findings from 2017. That shows we’re not getting any better at relaxing!
However, it’s not all our fault. Having the right sleep environment apparently plays a huge role. According to a study done by The National Sleep Foundation, 92% of respondents said that having a comfortable mattress is necessary for a good night’s sleep.
Interestingly, 60% of those surveyed felt their mattress and pillows are more comfortable than at a nice hotel. That’s great news! Still, 40% of us are sleeping on mattresses that aren’t as nice as we would like, and considering that almost all of us think a comfortable mattress is necessary, there’s some room for improvement there.
